Julie Coble is a nurse at Unity hospital. Like most nurses, Coble spends her days bathing, lifting, and helping people trying to get well. Over the last month Coble has noticed her job taking a toll on her body.
“I put a lot of strain on my back because I’m always repositioning patients and boosting them up in bed,” Coble said

Coble says the back pain became so unbearable that she had to find help. She found that help at a chiropractic office.
“The chiropractor has really helps relieve pressure in my back,” Coble said
According to the most recent data, more and more people are turning to chiropractors for help relieving pain.
Coble has had back problems from helping patiences. After seeing a chiropractor her pain has been relieved.
“I get massages and adjustments at least once a month to help my back,” Coble said.
Christopher Sigillio is a chiropractor in Brockport and has been helping relieve pain for two decades. Sigillo became a chiropractor based on his own chiropractor encouraging him to join the field.
“I was in my sophomore year of college, I was home on a break and I went to the chiropractor. I was talking to him and he knew I was an exercise science major at the time and he asked “what are you gonna do?” I said “I’m not sure”. He said you should look into becoming a chiropractor. I thought you know what, that’s a good idea,” Sigillo said.

Sigillo has helped thousands of people of all age demographics. From infants to the elderly, Sigillo can help relieve joint pain.
“I was working on a very colicky baby and I just did a couple adjustments. Later I remember the mom telling me I thought that you broke my daughter because she stopped crying immediately,” Sigillo said.
Sigillo helped a 7 year old boy who had a problem with bed wetting. By making adjustments to his spine, Sigillo says he was able to fix his problem for good.
Athletes as well are being encouraged to get adjustments to improve performance. Keith Szczepanski, student at Merrimack College notices a performance improvement with weekly adjustments.
“Right now I am training for the NFL pro day. I see my chiropractor Dr. Banner three days a week. He keeps my back fresh. I notice I am stronger and more explosive after seeing him. After five years of Division I football it’s important that I see a chiropractor regularly,” Szczepanski said.

Chiropractors also do more than just help neck and back pain. They can help people who suffer from chronic headaches. Chiropractors also partner with medical professionals such as massage therapists, acupuncturists, and nutritionists to help people to provide a holistic approach to pain management.
Over the years the chiropractic profession has gone from what once was viewed by many people as medically suspicious to now being recognized as a valuable resource for people.
“50 years ago insurance did not cover chiropractic work. So if insurance does not cover something people are probably thinking it’s not legit. Also there’s certain chiropractors who over prescribe treatment,” Sigillo said.
For people who suffer from excruciating pain like Julie Coble, chiropractors offer much needed relief.
