BROCKPORT, NY – Tucked quietly on the corner of Main and King Streets sits Blazing Beauty Aesthetics, a space many locals might pass without noticing what’s inside. What’s inside the small store that opened in April of 2022 is a wide range of self-care services, including facials, massages, lash treatments and waxing. Each service takes place in a personalized private room to ensure a comfortable and relaxing experience.

Store owner Alyssa Narburgh, 29, developed her passion for all things beauty at a young age.
Throughout her career, Narburgh’s main goal has stayed the same — to help bring out the inner beauty in others and to empower her client’s confidence.
“My business in general is very personal to me. I love that we can make women feel really great about themselves,” Narbaugh said.
In her first year of business, Narburgh ran the store entirely by herself. As the business began to grow, she hired three additional employees.
“I know if I’m going to hire someone right when they walk through the door, how you carry yourself is very important,” Narbaugh said.
These new employees have played a big part in enhancing the client experience.

Not only have they expanded the range of services, but they have also helped carry out the core values of the business.
“We like people that aren’t afraid to ask questions or talk to a stranger, and when someone walks in, they say hello,” Narbaugh said, “I want everyone to feel as comfortable as possible and love the experience.”
In order to get people through the door, planning events has been a team effort.
Something many businesses struggle with, especially in a small village, is the lack of foot traffic.
Every few months, Blazing Beauty Aesthetics hosts pop-up events with special guests and services, which has been the key to increasing exposure and building their clientele.
Blazing Beauty Aesthetics hosted a Galentine’s Day event in late February, offering discounted massages, spray tans, flash tattoos, facials, Botox, and more.

Narbaugh says she usually only sees about fifteen customers on any given day, but that number more than tripled during the event.
“I love that I can hold these events so people can get the chance to try out these services and meet us. I know it can be scary to go somewhere new, but this way you can try something new and just see how it makes you feel,” Narbugh said.
SUNY Brockport student Katy Mitchell had all the feels during her first visit to the store.
“I just loved being there, so I was getting whatever was going to keep me in there for as long as possible. It was a very welcoming experience, and I didn’t feel pressured to get anything, but I just felt like I wanted to because I was getting social with everybody and having a great time,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell says she had such a great time that she hopes to return for another event.
“I think that they need to do more events. They were able to bring more eyes on their shop, and I think that especially with the bridge being closed for so long, it’s good for local businesses to be doing that,” Mitchell said, “I will 100% be coming back.”
Narbaugh recognizes that building a clientele takes time, but she’s confident the business many people once passed by without noticing will soon become a regular stop for the Brockport community.
